How do you counter a bluff? First, you must be able to spot it! That is what we will focus on with this post to help you prepare for a move which will force the opponent to be out of hand.

Betting patterns will be one good way to tell that another player is doing a bluff. Since you cannot see your opponent when you play poker online, then you should focus on how they play their hand to see what they are up to.

Continuation Bets

Most of the time, you will notice a player who is bluffing when they make a continuation bet after pushing for a raise on preflop. When they raise pre-flop, this means that they have strong hand, maybe some high cards. If the flop reveals rags and they commit into it, then consider raising or simply calling to check if they have a plan to steal the pot. Most of the time the opponent will have an AQ or AK added to the over cards so they will just opt to fold when you raise.

Scare Card

Another common spot when you’ll catch someone bluffing is when you get the flop with two going for a draw, and then the turn completes it. Let us say the flop gives 10-J-Q. Then you bet, the other player calls. The dealer gives a King for the turn, then your opponents pushes a big one. There is a high possibility that this player is bluffing. If you made a nut straight, why will you blast out firing?

Desperation Bluff

You don’t need the most high tech radar in your game to see a desperation bluff. A player might suddenly show strength when all the while he or she is trying to portray weak. Someone might be playing on a tilt like when someone has been checking or calling all day then suddenly pushes all of the chips forward upon reaching the river. Most likely they don’t have the draw but just cannot afford to lose some more chips. Play them and teach your opponent a lesson.

All right, now we are ready to tackle the “board cards.” They are also, and perhaps more widely, known as community cards. Anyway, they are the cards that the dealer lays face up on the table. They include the flop, the turn, and the river, which we will get to in a little while.

In some variations of poker, you have a draw — contrary to what you might be thinking, this does not necessarily mean that you are drawing new cards. On the contrary, it means you are attempting to improve your present hand by using the board, or community, cards. You want some specific cards to show up on the table.

The pre flop describes the point at which your hand gets dealt to you. At this point, each player receives two cards which only they can see.

You finally sit down at a serious game, be it online or in a bricks and mortar casino. Much to your dismay and embarrassment, however, you discover that you have no clue what these people are talking about at all. What does he mean, the pre flop? What board cards? Are you playing a board game? Is this a bad dream?

No! It’s real! All because you did not take the time to sit down and learn the basic terms used in most, if not all, variations of poker, before sitting down to play with the big dogs. This might seem ridiculous, but it has happened to a lot of us after we have made the move from playing with the boys in the basement to entering, say, a serious tournament. Fortunately, this next series of posts is here to help you out considerably.

Let’s start with the very basic basics. The blinds — big blinds, small blinds, blinds everywhere. Blinds are like antes, in that they are forced bets. However, they are replacing the traditional ante with which a lot of us are familiar. You have to pay the blinds before being able to see your cards.

Arguably poker is a game where every player competes to win the pot and earn himself a fortune at the cost of others. It a proven fact that the game of poker requires a lot more than luck and this is where poker tutorials can be of great aid. There are a lot of poker tutorials available online but all of them require a signup amount after which you can go through them.

The biggest question is that are they worth the money? The answer depends upon the reviews and reputation of the site. It is accomplished that a beginner cannot learn the game of poker just by visiting a casino and requires a proper knowledge of the lingo of poker as well as the rules and regulation which change with each variant of the poker.

There are various sites which are owned and run by some of the most successful poker players and where one can get all the details and proper guidance about the game of poker. It is very well said that observation is the best way of learning and besides going for poker tutorials one can also visit local casinos to observe the games on high money tables or catch poker championship on television.

In the end to sum up, if you believe that you want to earn poker sitting back at your home then poker tutorials are ideal for you but a proper research on the author is always advisable before you buy one.

What do we suggest? Reading online poker sites and blogs with tight poker tips or tips from internet poker geeks. This information is valuable, free – and most of the time it’s of equal or better quality than a lot of tutorials you can BUY. Don’t say I didn’t tell you!
